Future officer positions

President

  • Preside over all executive board meetings

  • Maintain oversight of all BSA operations with a special focus on co-sponsorships, and programmatic efforts

  • Guide the organization’s direction and vision for the academic year

  • Supervise directors in setting achieving goals in line with vision

  • Directly supervise the program directors

Vice President

  • Assume all duties of the President in their absence

  • Oversee the internal affairs of the organization including member recruitment and development, office management, and coordination of general body meetings

  • Be available to attend Student Budget Board meetings as the proxy representative (Mondays from 4-6pm)

  • Directly supervise the Presidential Committee which includes finance and membership development staff

Director of Arts & Culture

  • Lead the Arts and Culture committee in the planning and execution of events focused on promoting black arts and culture

  • Ensure that all the necessary facilities and staffing are scheduled for all planned events

  • Oversee event operations and logistics

  • Communicate with agents and vendors to secure talent or services for events

  • Responsible for programming 2 events a month (examples: black films, speakers, poetry slams, art displays, paint-by-numbers, dance workshops, and talent shows)

Director of Black excellence

  • Lead the Black Excellence committee in the planning and execution of events focused on promoting and celebrating black excellence, traditions, and history

  • Ensure that all the necessary facilities and staffing are scheduled for all planned events

  • Oversee event operations and logistics

  • Responsible for programming 2-3 events a semester (examples: the biennial Black Excellence Gala, Kwanzaa celebration, Black History Month events, community service, forums, lectures)

Director of Communication

  • Work with the executive board and standing committees to keep the Virginia Tech community informed about BSA events and general news about the organization

  • Oversee all electronic media

  • Be the liaison for all organization-related press inquiries

  • Supervise all graphic designers, photographers, web designer, social media coordinators, and the Street Team

Director of Late Night PRograms

  • Lead the Late Night committee in the planning and execution of events focused on large scale social interactions

  • Ensure that all the necessary facilities and staffing are scheduled for all planned events

  • Oversee event operations and logistics

  • Communicate with agents and vendors to secure services for events

  • Responsible for programming 3 events a semester (examples: skate night, GobblerNights, laser tag, silent disco, campus parties)

Director of Live Entertainment

  • Lead the Live Entertainment committee in the planning and execution of events featuring a live performer

  • Ensure that all the necessary facilities and staffing are scheduled for all planned events

  • Oversee event operations and logistics

  • Communicate with agents and vendors to secure talent for events

  • Responsible for programming 1-2 events a semester, including but not limited to Homecoming/Spring concert or comedy show

Director of Social Programs

  • Lead the Social Programs committee in the planning and execution of events focused on community building

  • Ensure that all necessary facilities and staffing are schedule for all planned events

  • Oversee event operations and logistics

  • Responsible for programming 2 events a month (examples: socials, game nights, activity hours, and cookouts)
